| ASCII provides several ways to render a layer as text. ASCII is currently Mac-Only. |
| ASCII Gradient | Choose from 10 sets of characters to reconstruct the source layer as text. |
| Density: Invert | When checked, the current ASCII Gradient will be inverted. |
| Color From: | Choose where the characters obtain their coloration. Source: Use the color from the layer the effect is applied to. Swatch: Use the Text Color swatch. Random Grayscale: Use coherent random shades of gray. Random Color: Use coherent random colors. |
| Text Color | Sets the color of the text when using Swatch mode. |
| Font | The font with which to render the characters. The fonts in this list are included with Mac OS X. If you have disabled or removed them, DT ASCII will substitute them with current System Font. |
| Text Size | Set the base point size of the characters. |
| Horizontal Spacing | Adjusts text Tracking |
| Vertical Spacing | Adjusts text Leading |
| Horizontal Deviation | Randomizes text Tracking |
| Vertical Deviation | Randomizes text Leading |
| Deviation Multiplier | Affects both horizontal & vertical deviation. Use this to greatly expand the range of the deviation, or to easily shift back to a perfect grid of text. |
| Deviation Field Rotation | Rotate the deviation field. Basically, this orbits each character around its original position on the grid. |
| Text Size Deviation | Randomize the size of each character by an amount |
| Background | Select the type of background for the text: Color: Composites the text onto the Background Color |
| Background Color | When Background is set to Color, this sets the color for the background. |
| Blend With Original | Fade back to the source layer. |
